Research Interests:
I am a PhD student in mathematical biology at the University of Cambridge (with Dr Nik Cunniffe and Professor Chris Gilligan). The main focus of my work is modelling the biological control of crop disease, and I am also interested in other aspects of mathematical biology, such as stochastic and deterministic models of cell motility - I am working with Dr Ruth Baker and Dr Christian Yates in Oxford. For details about my PhD project, please see http://www.plantsci.cam.ac.uk/research/cunniffe/group/thompson.html I have also been awarded a non-stipendiary lectureship at Worcester College, University of Oxford (where I studied as an undergraduate). I am currently tutoring calculus there, and mathematical biology in Cambridge. In the past, I have undertaken research into the tracking of coronal mass ejections from the sun to the earth, with Dr Tim Howard at the SouthWest Research Institute in Colorado.
