Research Interests:
I am interested in Radial Basis Functions mainly concentrating on improving theoretical understanding. I have worked on the convergence theory of the multilevel algorithm on bounded domains and various important RBF inequalities. This research accommodates arbitrarily high dimensions. Recently, I have turned to focusing on spectral approximation schemes for two dimensions. This research builds on the software package Chebfun. Prizes, Awards and Scholarships:
SIAM UKIE prize for the best student talk at the 24th Biennial Numerical Analysis conference in Strathclyde. IMA prize in 2010 for outstanding examination results. Junior Maths Prize in 2009 for outstanding examination results. Major/Recent Publications:
Preprints: A. Townsend & H. Wendland, Multiscale analysis in Sobolev spaces on bounded domains with zero boundary values, submitted on 25 Nov 2011. S. Olver & A. Townsend, A fast and well-conditioned spectral method, (2012), arXiv:1202.1347v1, submitted on 7 Feb 2012. Teaching:
Taught Numerical Linear Algebra consultation sessions. Marked Perturbation Theory, Numerical Analysis and Numerical Linear Algebra classes. |
