Travel and Conference Grants

Research students are entitled to claim £250 per year (1 October to 30 September), for their first three years of study, and a further £125 for the first six months of their 4th
year.  Allowances from future years may not be brought forward, but unused allowances from past years can be carried over. In addition to the above, up to £250 in total per student is available for Travel and Conference attendance with a significant Transferable Skills element, for example if the student is making a presentation of their work. 

Applications should be made in advance, using the forms available outside F2. Students should always apply to their college for assistance as well as to the department.  Applications made after the end of a student's fourth year will not normally be considered.

In addition to travel and conference costs, students may also apply for the reimbursement of reasonable costs arising from their transferable skills training programmes.
