Eugene Benilov - “Liquid flowing down an inclined plate”
Problem statement:
• Smooth shock waves for Stokes flow down an inclined plane. With increasing angle, oscillations appear and then no solutions are possible because they all overturn.
• Open question: When do steady solutions exist and when do they overturn? What is the physical mechanism for the oscillations observed?
Suggestions/comments:
• JRO: Look at the thin layer limit.
