Conflict of Interest Policy

Oxford's Conflict of Interest policy, approved by the University Council, requires that all 'staff and students are required to recognise and disclose activities that might give rise to conflicts of interest or the perception of conflicts and to ensure that such conflicts are seen to be properly managed or avoided.'

Conflicts of interest (CoI) may be financial or non-financial or both.

The policy, including a useful summary covering the key points, is available on the University's Conflict of Interest website.

Please ensure that you are familiar with the requirements of the policy, which applies to all staff and students of the University and to all others working in the University.

If you have any queries, please contact the Elizabeth Ogden, Head of Administration and Finance.

Approval for outside appointments

Likewise, all employees need to obtain approval from the Head of Department for the holding of any outside appointment (including directorships on the boards of external organisations, spin-off companies and, for this purpose, University subsidiaries), and for undertaking other outside activities (including consultancies). [see Council regulation 5 of 2004]. The application form can be found on the university webpages at http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/personnel/staffinfo/academic/approvaltoholdoutsideappointments/.
