Academic Assistant for Mathematical Finance - maternity cover
The Mathematical Institute is looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active individual to cover the maternity leave of a member of a small team administering degrees in Mathematical Finance. The Mathematical Institute is a large and internationally renowned department within the University of Oxford. It has 900 undergraduates reading Mathematics and its joint schools, 80 on taught-masters courses and around 140 studying for research degrees.
The post holder will provide the front-line administrative support to students and academic support for the part-time MSc in Mathematical Finance. Expected to work with minimum supervision and prioritise competing demands effectively the post holder will need to use initiative to deal with varied and complex queries and ensure the smooth running of the programme
The post holder must be self-motivated while having the flexibility to work as part of a small team and will need to be highly organised and methodical with an ability to maintain accurate records, work to deadlines, and make the practical arrangements for an intensive teaching programme. Good IT skills are essential as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in higher education administration is desirable but not essential.
The post is available for six months in the first instance with the possibility of extension for up to one year.
