We invite applications for up to 5 Postdoctoral Research Assistant positions, funded by ERC, to work with Professor Francis Brown, at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. These are 1 year fixed term positions in the first instance and are available from 1st October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The post holder is a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research as part of the ERC project GALOP - Galois Theory of Periods and Applications. The post holder provides guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including PhD and project students.
The successful candidate will work on research projects related to the grant. They will also provide an average of 3 hours per week of teaching for 24 weeks of the year, for which additional remuneration will be paid.
Applicants should have a PhD awarded, or a Masters degree and PhD submitted (at the time of taking up the position) in mathematics or a related discipline, possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes and have the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities.
