We invite applications for up to three postdoctoral research positions, funded by the European Research Council, to work with Professor Andras Juhasz at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. These are fixed-term positions for 2 years and are available from 1st May 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful candidates will work on research projects related to the grant “Low-dimensional topology in Oxford,” in particular, apply Heegaard Floer homology or similar invariants to 3- and 4-manifold topology and knot theory, but there is scope for carrying out an independent research agenda. Applicants working in any branch of low-dimensional topology are welcome to apply, as developing interactions between different topological and geometric methods is one of the objectives of the project. They will also be given the opportunity to undertake teaching which will not exceed 3 hours per week for 24 weeks per annum.
Applicants should have a PhD awarded or submitted (at the time of taking up the position) in mathematics, and be able to demonstrate a strong background in low-dimensional topology, and preferably familiarity with Heegaard Floer homology. A good publication record judged by the stage of his/her career, and the ability to work together with others as part of a research team are also essential.
