The Mathematical Institute is seeking to appoint a Schools Liaison Officer and Admissions Co-ordinator.  The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and proactive individual with the ability to think strategically and communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of people and will be responsible for supporting the departmental aspects of the admissions process, including co-ordinating the admissions test.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Statistics Schools Liaison Officer, the Whitehead Lecturer, similar appointments in MPLS Division and the colleges, and seek to maintain and evolve the department’s current programme of outreach.

The successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in the departments’ continuing work to encourage a wide range of applicants and build relationships with schools that do not normally send students to Oxford.  This work will include organising the academic timetable for five Open Days each year.

This is a full-time permanent position and is available from 1st June 2018 (or as soon as possible thereafter).

A good knowledge of mathematics to first degree level and familiarity with the nature of mathematics as a university subject are essential together with knowledge and appreciation of the various syllabuses at universities with strong mathematical science departments in order to discuss the content with school teachers and advise potential applicants.
