We invite applications for a two-year postdoctoral research assistant position, funded by EPSRC, to work with Professor Sarah Waters at The University of Oxford on an exciting multidisciplinary project in the mathematical modelling of tissue engineered constructs. The post holder will be based in the group of Professor Sarah Waters, part of the Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in the Mathematical Institute.

The successful applicant will develop, analyse and solve new mathematical models for the engineering of artificial tissues within a novel multi-modal bioreactor which combines imaging with a bioreactor environment for the maturation and monitoring of tissue constructs. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in the mathematical modelling of physical systems, partial differential equations (PDEs), and skills for solving PDEs using either analytical or numerical methods.  They will also be given the opportunity to undertake teaching which will not exceed 3 hours per week for 24 weeks per annum.

Applicants will be expected to have, or be close to completing, a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline together with expertise in modelling physical systems using analytical or numerical approaches for solving PDEs.
