Candidates who apply for a DPhil place and are eligible for EPSRC and/or Departmental awards will automatically be considered for the awards whilst being considered for a place on the DPhil.
Roughly speaking, eligibility is as follows. Only UK/EU citizens normally resident in the UK/EU are eligible for EPSRC awards. Those who have been normally resident in the UK for the past three years are eligible for awards covering fees and stipend, while others are eligible for fees-only awards.
The Mathematical Institute has a small number of Departmental awards to offer to our strongest Home/EU and Overseas applicants. The number of awards available can vary from year to year.
Please note that, although applications are made online, different deadlines are used for EPSRC and Departmental award applications. Applicants will be considered in regular gathered fields, with the closing time of 12 noon on the following dates: 18th November 2016 , 6th January 2017, 20th January 2017, and 10th March 2017. Unsuccessful candidates from each gathered field will in some cases be rejected, and in other cases held for re-evaluation in further rounds unless they request otherwise. Candidates who have not gained an award may be offered an unfunded place on the DPhil.
