Limits of $\alpha$-harmonic maps

Abstract
I will discuss a recent joint work with A. Malchiodi (Pisa) and M. Micallef (Warwick) in which we show that not every harmonic map can be approximated by a sequence of $\alpha$-harmonic maps.
