I am Tuya Sa, a PhD student at Loughborough University, conducting research on mathematicians' conception on different dimensions of proofs.

I would like to invite you to participate in a short web experiment. It will take around 10 or 15 minutes (but there is no time limit).

You will be randomly assigned a factor for judging the proofs, which could be any one of 'generality', 'economy', 'seriousness', 'depth', 'inevitability', or 'beauty'.

We would like to announce a pilot event titled "Retreat for Women in Applied Mathematics" at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Edinburgh from the 9th-13th January 2023.

The London Mathematical Society is pleased to support the virtual International Congress of Mathematics by hosting three ICM Public Lectures as Satellite Events online via Zoom during the ICM in July 2022.

The National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), in collaboration with QuantX, is organising a cross-sector quantum computing hackathon in the UK. It will be a technical hackathon aimed at addressing the whole quantum computing value chain to demonstrate its ability to tackle real-world problems in a variety of sectors.

United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) organises competitions, residential camps and other activities to inspire and challenge young people with mathematics. There are varied opportunities to get involved: mentoring individual students, marking olympiad papers, running team competitions, helping with summer schools, and more.

If you're interested in communicating your work to other people, then you might find the following workshops from the LMS helpful. If you're planning any outreach yourself, or if you want to find out more about what the department is doing, you can contact James and Zoe on @email or find us in the outreach office, S0.21.

LMS Mathematics Communication Workshops 2022 (online, via Zoom)

Held in Champaign, Illinois, USA from July 3-July 22, 2022.

Applications for the 20th annual Wolfram Summer School are now open. "Students, educators, researchers and entrepreneurs alike will benefit from spending three weeks working closely on a project with our senior developers and Stephen Wolfram himself".

The School covers four fields including physics and metamathematics (sic), a new initiative dedicated to the study of the computational origins, structure, and future of mathematics.
