The Department is committed to creating a happy and healthy working environment, where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. We do not tolerate any form of harassment or bullying.
The Harassment Advisors offer confidential support to all members of the Department. Seeking support from one of our Advisors is not the same as making a complaint – this is an informal opportunity to seek confidential advice. In some instances this may be enough to resolve the issue. In other cases, should you decide to make a complaint, the Harassment Advisor can be a valuable source of support and guidance. Any member of the Department should also feel free to raise any such matter with the Head of Department or Head of Administration. Alternatively, if you do not feel comfortable talking to someone from within the Department, you can access the University’s anonymous Harassment Line.
It is often the case that people who are being bullied or harassed, or who witness such behaviour, do not feel that telling someone will achieve anything. This is not the case. Action can and will be taken to resolve the matter, with your agreement. We must ensure that the Department is a positive environment, in which people are treated fairly and with respect.
