Pembroke College wishes to appoint two posts; one four-hour and one five hour Stipendiary Lecturer (Career Development) in Pure Mathematics, from 1 September 2018 for one to two years, by agreement. The post-holder will teach tutorials in pure mathematics, especially undergraduate algebra and analysis.
In addition to the teaching of four or five hours of tutorials per week, averaged over the year, the Lecturers will be required to work in conjunction with the Fellows in Mathematics in arranging teaching and in the admissions process. The successful candidates should have a doctorate, or be very near completion; teaching experience and the willingness to participate in administrative activities and the pastoral oversight of undergraduates will also be taken into consideration.
The stipend will be in the range of £8,832 - £9,933 per annum for the four-hour post, and £11,040 - £12,416 for the five hour post, according to experience and qualifications. These are fixed-term career development posts aimed at offering early career academics the opportunity to gain experience in teaching and administration. The successful post-holders will benefit from mentoring, an individually agreed personal development plan and a personal research allowance £515 for the four hour post and £644 for the five hour post. You will also receive a tutors’ allowance £206 for the four hour post and £258 for the five hour post, shared use of a teaching room, and an entitlement to take some lunches and dinners in College throughout the year.
