We are seeking applications for the post of Area Coordinator for Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. This post is funded by a grant to the University of Oxford from the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP), which in turn is supported by a grant from the Department for Education.  This is a part-time, fixed-term position and is available until 31st July 2024 with the possibility to extend subject to funding agreement. We are looking to have someone in post as soon as possible, but no later than 1st January 2023.

The position presents an exciting opportunity to coordinate support for students and teachers in state-funded schools/colleges, in the AMSP region (Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire), in order to improve participation and provision for Level 3 mathematics (i.e. AS/A Level Maths, AS/A Level Further Maths and Core Maths qualifications).

This position may involve some events at evenings and occasionally weekends, for which time off in lieu is given. Whilst online support and meetings have increased significantly over the recent period, the post will involve regular travel to meetings and events within the region (Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire) and occasional travel to national conferences with an overnight stay. It is expected that the candidate will have a working knowledge of how to conduct online meetings and a positive attitude to developing their skills further.

About you

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience. They will have a good and current knowledge of mathematics education in UK secondary schools/colleges and an awareness of the local provision in the region. In addition, the ability to create and maintain excellent professional relations with others and work as part of a team is important.

We proudly hold a Race Equality Charter Bronze Award and a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award, which guide our progress towards advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our commitment to openness, inclusivity and transparency, we would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in positions of this type at Oxford.
