About the role
This role presents an exciting opportunity to join the Mathematical Institute, a thriving academic department with an outstanding reputation for its research and teaching.
You will be expected to maintain and build on existing relationships between the Mathematical Institute and industrial partners, and seek out new such relationships. You will identify and support industry projects for MSc students, including providing guidance to students on applications and interviews for industry projects. You will be a first port of call for academics and those working in industry who wish to nurture collaborations, proactively soliciting and helping develop projects for research projects by researchers at all levels. You will help secure industrial funding for research projects and postgraduate studentships. Through your work, you will contribute to the department’s impact, and the development of impact case studies for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
You will be a member of the department’s Academic Administration team, and report to the Head of Academic Administration. You will work closely with Professor Chris Breward on a day-to-day basis. You will also be expected to have a good working relationship with the Head of Research Facilitation, and to support the Research Facilitation team on the processing of grant applications in the run-up to some key grant deadlines.
