I am working on the mathematical modelling of cell therapies for liver disease. In order to have a accurate prediction of the cell therapy we need to determine the impact on cell delivery route on the biomechanical cues experienced by the cells during their transit to the injury site. We will develop models describing the cross talk between the resulting delivered cells and their biochemical environment at the injury site. The mathematical models will be validated via detailed comparison of the model predictions with the quantitative experimental data from University of Edinburgh and University of Birmingham, as part of this multi-disciplinary project.
