As part of the CDT on Mathematical Modelling, Analysis and Computation (https://www.mac-migs.ac.uk/), Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh are now advertising 3 undergraduate vacation scholarships in Mathematical Modelling, Analysis and Computation.

These scholarships are intended for students in the penultimate year of their degree (3rd year students in the Scottish system or 2nd year in the English system) who are members of groups typically under-represented in the mathematical science research community, including women, non-binary, disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people. Our two universities have similar schemes in the mathematical sciences which are open to all groups of people. These scholarships will give the student an opportunity to experience what it is like to work in mathematics in a research environment. Recipients of the scholarship will be employed for 6 weeks during June-August 2021 by the University of Edinburgh or Heriot-Watt University and will be paid a living wage while working remotely on a research project under the supervision of a faculty member.

To apply for these scholarships, please send an email to Abdul-Lateef Haji-Ali
(@email) by March 12th 2021, with:
- a transcript of your grades,
- a short motivation for applying for a vacation scholarship, together with a project title
from above or your preferred area of research within modelling, applied analysis and
computation (max 150 words),
- a brief statement to say that you are already entitled to work in the UK. For holders of Tier 4 visa please see: https://www.ed.ac.uk/student-administration/immigration/working-in-the-uk/during-studies/work-placements-internships-tier-4-students
