Tom Crawford - Mandelbulb

A 3D rendering of the Mandelbrot set - called a Mandelbulb

The image shows a 'Mandelbulb' - a 3D rendering of the Mandelbrot set. The fractal is created using the White-Nylander formula, which uses spherical polar coordinates to define the nth power of a 3-vector. The Mandelbulb shown has the value n=7 and is viewed from above with the origin at the centre of the image. A full explanation of how the fractals are created is provided here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9EO9-izL9E.

Tom Crawford is an Early Career Teaching and Outreach Fellow at St Edmund Hall.
