About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and well-organised individual to join our friendly Finance team and gain experience of studentship and research grants administration in a world-leading academic department.

You will be responsible for managing the department’s portfolio of funding for graduate studentships, and will support the financial management of our departmental Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs).

Your main duties will include management of the annual budgets for studentships, including the preparation of quarterly forecasts; liaising with colleagues on the allocation of funding; and ensuring that all associated financial data is accurate and up-to-date and payments are made in a timely fashion. Reporting to the Finance Officer (Research Projects & Studentships), you will work closely with colleagues across the department, including the Finance Manager, Academic Administration  and the CDT Administrators.

The successful candidate will be educated to A-level standard or equivalent in at least one numerate subject, and have experience in studentships or research grants administration, ideally in relation to the management of awarded grants. They will have a good level of general financial literacy, excellent IT skills, the ability to prioritise a varied and busy workload as well as with the ability to explain complex information to a wide-ranging audience.
