Making the Most of Your Degree
Induction
A departmental induction session will take place during your first week at Oxford, usually on Friday of week 0. A student's guide to your first week in Oxford gives a brief introduction to studying at Oxford and supplements the information that you will be given at this session. You will also receive a copy of the Handbook for the Undergraduate Mathematics Courses and the Moderations Synopses which gives the details of all the lecture courses that you will take in your first year. Copies of these documents are also available here.
How to get the best out of lectures
During your first term at Oxford you will have ten hours of lectures per week. At the induction session you will hear a brief talk on how to get the best out of lectures. A summary of this talk is available here. You can also visit Dr Körner's homepage and read his advice on How to listen to a Maths Lecture.
