In this webinar, representatives of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and the International Council of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM) present Results of the Gender Gap in Science project about mathematics and applied mathematics.

The event will be held online on February 16th, 2022 from 4 to 6pm CET.

The Royal Society Athena Prize is awarded biennially (in even years) for teams working in UK academic and research communities, who have contributed most to the advancement of diversity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) within their communities. The recipients of the prize receive a medal and a gift of £5,000.

Yesterday, Thursday, was Holocaust Memorial Day in the UK (UN International Holocaust Remembrance Day). Wikipedia lists 15 professional mathematicians as victims of the Holocaust including Georg Alexander Pick (Pick's Theorem) who died aged 82 and Felix Hausdorff, one of the founders of modern topology. And, of course, many future mathematicians who never made it.

The London Mathematical Society has set aside funds to be used for making grants to support the attendance of UK-based mathematicians at the ICM 2022 in St. Petersburg (6-14 July 2022). The grants contribute to the costs of attending the ICM, not to meet them entirely.
