The Oxford Centre for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations is interested in receiving applications for the DPhil in Mathematics from students who wish to undertake research in the field of analysis of PDEs. To apply, please follow the process for applying for the standard DPhil in Mathematics and state your area of interest as being PDEs, also giving the names of any potential supervisors.

Why OxPDE?

The Centre is a vibrant and stimulating research environment,  one of the largest and most dynamic research groups focusing on PDEs within the UK. The group consists of a number of prominent researchers and attracts prestigious visitors from across the world. It has two weekly seminar series in term-time: the PDE seminar series on Mondays and the lunchtime seminar series on Thursdays. The Centre runs other activities such as ad-hoc topic courses, study groups and skills training associated to the CDT in PDEs, and also has an active and friendly social calender.

Funding

Students admitted to the Centre will automatically enter into a competition for funding. There are many sources of funding available, which are either specific to the Mathematical Institute or University-wide, or come from independent scholarship bodies. Please note that some funding opportunities have deadlines, so early application is essential. The group is happy to receive applications from applicants with funding from others sources.

This page aims to provide relevant information for candidates who consider applying for DPhil studies in the OxPDE Group at Oxford. It focuses on the specifics related to our research group and should be read in conjunction with the general admissions guidelines of the Mathematical Institute.
