Family Leave

The University offers very generous family leave and pay to employees. The detail of the various family leave schemes can seem quite daunting to begin with, so please do get in touch with us at @email for help as soon as you are ready. 

Comprehensive guidance on all types of family leave can be found on the central HR Support pages; this includes leave for fertility treatment, guidance for pregnant employees and their managers on maternity leave and pay entitlements, other rights of pregnant women and new mothers, the paternity leave and pay scheme, shared parental leave, and guidance on adoption leave and for employees who are adopting parents and their managers.

It is really important that you read all the guidance relating to the type of leave you wish to take, but the HR team are very happy to answer any questions and guide you toward the right information and forms - please get in touch!

Remission from teaching on return from maternity/paternity/adoption leave

There are to be no teaching obligations in the first term back for those returning from maternity leave or from extended shared parental leave/adoption leave, in order to smooth the transition back to work. Please see the Departmental policy on remission from teaching on return from maternity/paternity/adoption leave.
