The University of Greenwich and the IMA are again working together to host the conference Tomorrow’s Mathematicians Today (TMT) 2023 online  https://sites.google.com/view/imatmt2023 The conference will be held online on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 March 2023.  We are delighted that Professor Edward Frenkel (University of California Berkeley, author of “Love and Math”) Professor Sarah Hart (Birkbeck, University of London and Gresham Professor of Geometry) have agreed to give keynote talks. We already have over 30 students registered to attend, from 12 different universities.  Attendance is free for UK mathematics undergraduates.

The deadline for students to offer papers is Friday 13 January, and for registration is Friday 3 March.

This conference provides an opportunity for mathematics undergraduates to experience an academic conference, and to deliver a short talk to their peers in a friendly setting.  A student need not talk about their own research (though that is welcome) but may simply present a piece of mathematics that excites them.  There will be a prize for the best presentation – details of how to apply to be considered for the prize are on the website.

This will be the tenth TMT conference.  TMT2021 attracted over 150 registrants from universities all round the UK, and 26 students gave presentations.  Feedback from those who attended was very positive.  Comments included “Everyone was welcoming and friendly, it didn't feel stressful to present,  it was really enjoyable. Saw an amazing selection of talks on all sorts of mathematics. I was inspired by my peers doing research and amazing maths”, “Nice to interact with other students and mathematicians.  The talks were great!", and “I especially enjoyed just to have an excuse to explore my favourite areas! It was also great practise for public speaking :)!”.
