The Oxford University Scientific Society will be hosting their 2nd talk of this term on Thursday, February 2nd at 6.30 PM in the Levine Building Auditorium at Trinity College. The talk will be given by Professor Tony Kouzarides who will be visiting us from Cambridge. 

Prof. Tony FMedSci, FRS is a senior group leader Gurdon Institute, a founding non-executive director of Abcam and a Professor of Cancer Biology at the University of Cambridge.

OUSS will also be having a pub trip with Professor Tony after the talk to St. Catherine College, giving the audience an ample amount of time for informal discussions with him. The talk is being organized together with Oxford University Biotech Society (OUBT) and Nucleate UK

Speaker: Prof. Tony Kouzarides, FMedSci, FRS, University of Cambridge

Title: "Lessons from a career in academia and business”

Abstract: Prof Tony Kouzarides is a research scientist investigating epigenetic pathways. His work has identified many new modifications involved in cancer and has help develop drugs against them. He has also founded and directs many entrepreneurial activities, such as biotech companies (Abcam and Storm Therapeutics), a Therapeutics Institute (The Milner) and an entrepreneurial organisation for early career scientists (Cambridge Gravity). His talk is a personal tour of the many aspects of his career, providing insights and guidance as to what makes a successful life in academia or business.
