Every single member of staff has a responsibility for keeping themselves and others safe from the risk of fire.  The best way to fight fires is to prevent them. You play a vital role in taking fire precautions in your everyday working life.

There are three simple things you can do to prevent fire and the spread of fire. Don’t overload cables – it’s a major cause of fire. Don’t allow combustible material, like paper, to build up in your workspace. Don’t prop internal fire doors open – they can’t do their job in limiting the spread of heat, smoke and flames.

Be a good safety citizen, follow fire safety guidance and contact your local safety adviser for more help and advice.
