Social Events

Drinks Reception

The Warden of New College has invited participants to a drinks party in honour of Mike Hopkins. This will take place in the Warden's Garden at New College 5.30pm - 7.00pm  on Monday 5 June.

Excursions

There are no lectures on Wednesday afternoon. Various activities are planned including punting, soccer, and visits to some of the Oxford colleges.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner in honour of Mike Hopkins will be held on Friday 9 June at Balliol College. Drinks will be served at 7.30pm before dinner at 8.15pm in The Hall. (Sign up for dinner with the main conference registration.)

Bletchley Park

On Saturday morning a bus will take interested participants from Oxford to Cambridge via Bletchley Park. The estate was the principal centre of allied code-breaking during the Second World War. The team of code breakers included many mathematicians most famously Alan Turing. The bus will depart at 11:00 from the Mathematical Institute on Woodstock Road.

 

Linked programme

The conference is part of a two week Isaac Newton Institute (INI) programme that follows up on the 2018 INI semester programme Homotopy Harnessing Higher Structures.  People interested in this conference may also consider attending the workshop at the INI in Cambridge in the following week, 12-16 June 2023, Homotopy: Fruit of the Fertile Furrow.  Transportation from Oxford to Cambridge will be organised for Saturday 10 June.
