The Mathematics area at SISSA offers two 3-years post-doctoral positions (the SISSA Mathematical Fellowships) for promising early stage researchers in Mathematics. These fellowships are not restricted to a specific research theme, but are intended to give to promising, highly qualified, early stage researchers the opportunity to independently pursue their own research and to enlarge their research profile by interacting with top-leading scientists.

In 2021 the theme of the International Day of Mathematics (March 14) is Mathematics for a Better World. You are invited to create a poster that shows one way to make the world a little bit better using mathematics. Instead of words, use pictures combined with numbers, formulas, geometric shapes, and other mathematical elements to express your idea.
Nominations for the inaugural award of the IMA Hedy Lamarr Prize for Knowledge Exchange in Mathematics and its Applications are invited from 1 October 2020 until the closing date of 31 January 2021, via the online nomination form.

The IMA is glad to launch a conference on “Mathematics in Music”, to be announced to take place in 2022 at the Royal College of Music. In view of this event, a series of individual seminars on this fascinating and rich field of research, held by mathematicians, musicians and composers, is planned to take place between 2020 and 2022.
