LaTeX Distributions

The department uses TexLive on Linux systems, MacTeX (TexLive based system) on Apple Mac systems, and MikTeX for Windows.

Text Editors for use with LaTeX

GNU Emacs editor - a common editor on Linux systems with a comprehensive LaTeX mode. There is a version of Emacs available for Windows too.
Kile - latex editor originally developed for KDE Linux desktop environment
TeXmaker - cross platform latex editor
TeXworks - cross platform latex editor
LEd - very good free editor for Windows
WinEdt - shareware editor for Windows
