How to Find Resources

SOLO (Search Oxford Libraries Online)

Search SOLO, the online catalogue of the University of Oxford, to find:

  • printed books and journals
  • e-books and e-journals (including Electronic Legal Deposit journals and books)
  • databases
  • research publications of members of the University deposited in Oxford Research Archive (ORA)

It is recommended that you make SOLO your primary search tool as it covers all the material listed above including Electronic Legal Deposit material.

Electronic Legal Deposit (eLD)
Please note that due to legal restrictions on usage, eLD material can be accessed only in Bodleian Library Reading Rooms (the nearest one to the Maths Institute is next door in the Philosophy and Theology Reading Room).
More information about eLD material can be found here.

Remote Access to Resources
Passwords are not required if you are accessing electronic resources from within the Oxford University "ox.ac.uk" domain.
However, for remote access from outside the "ox.ac.uk" domain, you are required to log in to SOLO with your Single Sign-On Username and Password (at the "Sign in" prompt on the top right hand side of the SOLO homepage).
This will give remote access to all databases, electronic reference works, e-book and e-journal packages that are controlled via IP-recognition.
For more information, please see Online and remote access
