GenSTEM - a new Gender Equity in STEM event

Wednesday 3rd May 2023

17:30 – 20:00

OeRC, 7 Keble Road, Oxford, OX1 3QC

An event run by societies for women and other minoritized groups studying and working in STEM at the University of Oxford

Our first Trinity Maths Pet of the Week belongs to Zoe from the Outreach Team!

This is Shelby, a black domestic short-haired cat. She's 7 years old, and was adopted from Four Paws Cat Rescue in Oxfordshire. Zoe also adds:

"Fun fact is that our vet told us they've never heard a cat purr as much as Shelby does which is pretty cute... she also hangs off the stairs like a bat sometimes (see below)."

Welcome to another episode of 'Me and My Maths', starring Adam, Sofia, Edwina and Yixuan.

In 90 seconds each of our guests describes life in Oxford Mathematics. Adam discusses the master's course in mathematical modelling and scientific computing, Sofia describes the wonders of working in higher dimensions, Edwina talks about partnerships with medics, and Yixuan explains how industry and academia work together on problems. In addition, they each talk about the wider working environment and the importance of their colleagues.

Gaining a research fellowship is a major step on the academic career ladder. This session will help you to understand the dos and don’ts of application. It will guide you through the process and explain the support that is available. A holder of a research fellowship will discuss their application experience.
