Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 March 2018

Andrew Wiles Building, University of Oxford

This three-day workshop will highlight advances and open questions, theoretical and experimental, concerning martensitic microstructure in polycrystals and effective (macroscopic) properties.

Speakers:

Kaushik Bhattacharya (Caltech) - Polydomain liquid crystal elastomers
Klaus Hackl (Ruhr-University Bochum) - Micromechanical modeling of polycrystalline shape memory alloys - energies and evolution
Goro Miyamoto (Tohoku University) - Variant coupling of martensite and bainite structures in steels
Anja Schlömerkemper (University of Würzburg) - On the characterisation of subclasses of symmetric polyconvex functions
Petr Sedlák (Czech Academy of Sciences) - Experimental study and phenomenological modeling of NiTi SMA
Akinobu Shibata (Kyoto University) - Hydrogen-related fracture behavior of martensitic steels
Angus Wilkinson (University of Oxford) - High Angular Resolution Electron Backscatter Diffraction studies of Fe-C Martensitic Steels
