Support for Faculty
Initial Period of Office
All new Associate Professor appointees to the University will have an Initial Period of Office (IPO) review. This takes place within the first five years of your appointment, after which successful completion of the review will result in re-appointment to a permanent position. Find out more.
Probation period
Other members of faculty, for example Senior Research Fellows and Departmental Lecturers, will usually have a probation period of two years. Individual arrangements will be discussed with you, but tend to follow a light-touch IPO process.
College affiliation
The majority of faculty roles are joint appointments with colleges; you can find more information on other types of college affiliation here.
