Before you start

Once you have returned your conditional offer letter, the process of welcoming you to the department begins! There will be a number of documents to return and processes to follow, so we will stay in touch with you via email.

Before your first day, we will ensure that you will have received (and completed!);

  • University card application: the University Card Office will be in touch with you 1 month ahead of your start-date with an online form enabling you to apply for a University ID card. This card will allow you access to the building and your office.
  • Visa application forms - as below, we will support you with the right forms and guidance for a visa application when necessary.
  • Contract of employment  - which comes with a cover letter and attachments, including a list of teaching opportunities if you are a PDRA/Research Fellow.
  • Date of your in-person induction - which includes a tour of the Andrew Wiles building and a chance to meet others starting at the same time.
  • An induction pack - containing a wealth of useful information about the department, policies, and procedures for you to refer to throughout your appointment. A paper version will be provided on your first day, plus you can download a version of the induction pack below.
