Your first day

Your day starts with the HR team, where we complete any outstanding pre-employment requirements and undertake the required Right to Work check.

We will provide you with your physical University Card and your IT account details for your Maths IT account, and your University Single Sign-On (if you do not already have one as an existing member of the University).

The HR induction covers a number of practical aspects related to your contract; payment, probationary period, pensions, and career development. We also cover general information about working in the department, and our local policies and procedures. 

After the HR induction, we will take you on a tour of the building, so that you can familiarise yourself with your surroundings, the location of facilities, equipment (printers, scanners), meeting rooms, and teaching spaces. We will also ensure you are aware of the fire and evacuation procedures.

You will meet our Director of IT and Physical Resources, Keith Gillow, who will provide an overview of IT in the department and university. You can familiarise yourself with our IT policies here.

There will also be time set aside for you to get what you need to organise your office and meet your colleagues.
