During lockdown, a group of colleagues teaching in UK universities started TALMO, Teaching and Learning Mathematics Online, to help us all to exchange ideas about how best to cope with the new circumstances imposed on us. That has now evolved into a programme of online seminars open to anyone interested in matters relating to teaching and learning mathematics.

The TALMO programme for the 22/23 academic year has now been announced. Please see below for the next two and full list here.

QAA (the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education) produce subject benchmark statements.  In their words, "Subject Benchmark Statements describe the nature of study and the academic standards expected of graduates in specific subject areas. They show what graduates might reasonably be expected to know, do and understand at the end of their studies."

The LMS Committee for Women and Diversity in Mathematics will be holding the next Society Meeting and Mary Cartwright Lecture on Thursday, 10 November at ICMS, Edinburgh, and online via Zoom.

Date: 4-5 October 2022

Location: Online, hosted by ICMS

The Vision of the conference is 'To celebrate the inspirational contributions of black role models to the field of Mathematics and Mathematics Education'. There will be a balance of technical talks by internationally renowned black speakers that include some detail of career paths and experience to provide a testimonial dimension. We plan to achieve a balance of career stage and gender.
