Do you want to discover what your mathematics future could look like? Are you keen to meet and network with your mathematical peers? Then you can do so with the IMA! Come along to the 2020 Early Career Mathematicians’ Autumn Conference on Saturday 24th October at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Glasgow.

What is the conference about?

The conference will interest mathematicians early in their career, in academia and industry, students of mathematical sciences, as well as those with an interest in the subject. It will feature plenary talks from distinguished speakers covering a wide range of subjects, as well as activities to allow for interaction among the attendees and speakers.

This is a perfect opportunity to learn about fascinating areas of mathematics (and their applications) from people that work on them, whilst also providing you the chance to become more involved with a professional body of mathematics. There will be plenty of time to network during and after the conference, allowing you the opportunity to meet people with similar interests and find out more about the wide range of careers that are available.

Poster Session – Deadline 31st July 2020:

The IMA Early Career Mathematicians’ committee welcomes the submission of posters for an informal poster session that will take place during the conference. This is an invaluable opportunity to showcase and promote your work to a broad and diverse audience, to demonstrate ideas, meet new peers and share success.

Submissions are welcome on all areas of mathematics and its applications, as well as correlated subjects (which may include, but are not limited to, the history of mathematics, diversity and social activism in science, etc). Submissions are welcome from mathematicians early in their career, in academia and industry, students and educators of mathematical sciences, as well as from those with an interest in the subject.

Submissions must be uploaded via https://my.ima.org.uk at the time of registration. All submissions are subject to rigorous review before an acceptance decision is made. The deadline for submission is 31st July 2020.

The ECM Branch

The Early Career Mathematicians’ (ECM) Branch is designed for those with a maths degree who are within the first 15 years of graduating, or, those without a degree who are within the first 15 years of membership. The ECM group has been set up to engage and empower ECM, and students of mathematics at university, to provide them with support and an opportunity to network.
