Research Fellowship Programmes

The department has a large number of Research Fellows funded through a wide variety of research fellowship schemes.

Many of these fellowships are funded through schemes external to the department, with the fellowship being held through the department as a university employee, for example Glasstone and Marie Curie Fellowships. Other external schemes employ the fellow directly, with the department hosting the individual as a visitor/affiliate researcher, Swiss National Science Foundation Fellows for example.  Junior Research Fellows employed by Oxford Colleges are also affiliated to the department for the duration of their fellowships.

Hooke and Titchmarsh Fellowship Programme

The department launched its own Hooke and Titchmarsh Fellowship Programme in 2012; since when the department has welcomed over 30 such fellows. These fellowships provide an ideal opportunity for candidates to pursue an independent research programme over three years. Our fellows continue their excellent career paths beyond the fellowship, with many moving on into permanent academic positions both in the UK and overseas.
