THIS POST MAY ALSO BE OFFERED AS A SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Mathematical Institute is seeking an MSc Course Administrator to join its Academic Administration team on a full time basis, fixed-term for 18 months. Although this post is based at the Mathematical Institute, the department is open to a hybrid working arrangement for typically two days per week from home.

This role presents the exciting opportunity to act as the lead administrator for one of the Mathematical Institute’s prestigious postgraduate taught course programmes. Your duties will include being responsible for all on course administration; ensuring the smooth running of the administration for examinations; administering the postgraduate admissions process; and effectively managing course finances, including the budget for events. You will also service various committees related to postgraduate studies.

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Academic Administration, you will be the first point of contact for all queries relating to graduate student matters. As such, you must be able to liaise with a wide range of people including academic faculty, professional services colleagues and students, and prioritise a varied and busy workload to meet deadlines. You will have experience and a good understanding of general administrative practices and procedures; excellent organisational skills; and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including when explaining regulations to others.

We proudly hold a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award and an institutional Race Equality Charter Bronze Award, which guide our progress towards advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our strategic aim to improve staff equality and diversity, we would particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates, who are currently under-represented in positions of this type within the department.

If you would like to discuss the role and the department in more detail, please contact Sarah Randall, Deputy Head of Academic Administration, via email: @email. Applicants should read the job description document before writing their application. You will be required to upload a supporting statement, setting out how you meet the selection criteria, a curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of two referees as part of your online application.
