Don’t miss your chance to apply for a Mathematics Teacher Training Scholarship!  Applications open at 11:00 on Monday 9 January 2023.

We have 270 Maths Scholarships to award to those starting their initial teacher training in 2023/24, who have a passion for mathematics and want to share their knowledge with others – inspiring young minds in the classroom.

A Maths Scholarship also opens up a world of CPD, networking and knowledge sharing opportunities. This includes complimentary membership of key mathematical societies, providing access to a wealth information regarding the latest developments in mathematics and maths education to help inspire and support teachers in their role. Our continuing professional development (CPD) events provide opportunities for Maths Scholars to hear from inspirational speakers, take away resources and talk to experienced maths teachers, developing personal networks which will last a lifetime and give them confidence to progress in their career.

In addition to the above, a Maths Scholar will receive a tax-free bursary of £29,000 during their initial teacher training year.

Our support to Maths Scholars does not stop at the end if their initial teacher training year!  All Scholars are invited to become Alumni once their training year is over, meaning that the Scholar community includes brand new Scholars, as well as experienced teachers, some of whom will have started their ninth year in teaching.  Invitations to select CPD events are extended to members of our Alumni, to carry on their professional development and continue the networking opportunities.

We will also be joined by a representative from an outstanding teacher training provider who will answer any questions concerning the process of applying to teacher training.  Please note that this advice is provided independently of any provider.

Eligibility and Application Process

The Maths scholarships has its own Eligibility Criteria and Application Process, both of which are separate to that to initial teacher training so it is essential that you refer to those pages on our website to check your eligibility and how to submit an application.

When do we close?

Applications will close at 09:00 On Monday 3 July 2023 (provisional date).  

In previous years, we have received an overwhelming number of applications to the Maths Scholarships which led to the Scheme closing earlier than expected. Should this happen again, then we will close early.
