Public Lectures

After the success of our Public Lecture series in Oxford where we invite the world's best mathematicians to share the pleasures (and occasional pain) of their subject with a wider audience, we are taking the series beyond Oxford.

Our first lecture outsidee Oxford was given by Andrew Wiles in 2017 at the Science Museum in London and in 2018 Roger Penrose gave the lecture at the same venue. The third London Lecture in November 2019 was by Fields Medallist Tim Gowers. All three talked about their latest work followed by fascinating conversations with mathematician and broadcaster Hannah Fry. You can watch the lectures and conversation and other Public Lectures on our Oxford Mathematics YouTube Channel.

We have also put on Public Lectures in Solihull and Newcastle as we try to reach parts of the country where our alumni live and which are under-represented among our student population.

Please email @email if you want to join the Public Lecture mailing list.
