Supporting the end of an FTC

Approaching the end of your fixed-term contract (FTC)?

As you approach the end of your contract, unless a contract extension has already been agreed, HR will write to remind you of your forthcoming end date.  The department will endeavour to consider all alternative options to the expiry of your contract and, if you have been employed for more than two years you will be offered the opportunity to meet with a member of the HR team to talk about the end of your contract and the assistance the department is able to provide to help you through this process.

In the event that it has not been possible to either extend or renew your appointment, or to identify a redeployment opportunity, you will be sent a further letter one month before the end of your contract confirming your end date. If you have two or more years’ service, this letter will set out details of the redundancy payment due in the event that the contract ends without further employment within the University having been found.

More information about the University’s procedure for ending fixed-term contracts can be found here.
