Title
On epidemic growth and policy change: modelling hepatitis C virus elimination

Abstract

The revolutionary development of a cure for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in 2015, combined with theoretical modelling of the potential prevention benefits of treatment, have paved the way for the development of global targets for HCV elimination. This talk will explore how epidemic and economic modelling have been used to conceptualise the idea of HCV treatment as prevention, rethink the population impact and economics of hepatitis C virus prevention, develop elimination targets, and inform policy change at a local and global level.
