Mental Health Week by Statistics

Monday 18th May

1.00 pm – 2.00 pm

Bird Walk

Prof Andy Gosler, Associate Professor in Applied Ethnobiology will once again be helping us with this event.  Andy is kindly sharing with us, material that he has prepared for teaching biology undergraduates to identify birds by song.  Please sign up and a link to the file will be shared with you - please do not distribute to anyone outside the Department of Statistics and Mathematical Institute – it may be available online to the public later. Take a bit of time to go through the file and familiarise yourself with the bird songs and then put your new knowledge to the test on your daily walks. There will then be a feedback session to share your observations on Monday 18th May.

Graduate student Panel Session

Maintaining good mental health in an era of social distancing is tricky for everyone, adding to the existing pressures of academic life. We will be having a panel discussion on the topic, where we’ll discuss experiences and strategies; the panel will be chaired by Alex Homer (DPhil student) and will consist of two students and a postdoc from within the Department.

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions of the panel.  You can also submit these anonymously using this Google form:https://forms.gle/qU6XoapHRsVLcumT8 . All students and ECRs are very welcome to attend.
