FAQ: What do I do if I can't submit my exam?!

Let's set the scene: You've scanned your pages (in numerical question order) and you're ready to upload when the wi-fi cuts out, Inspera malfunctions, or your cat knocks your calming camomile tea over your keyboard. Good thing you have 30 minutes of upload time that you definitely aren't using to keep writing the exam to find a solution.

IF YOU HAVE INTERNET = use the online help form https://www.ox.ac.uk/online-exams-help

It will ask you a few questions and let you upload your paper if Inspera stops working, and time stamps it so we know when you sent them your response.

Please do not email anyone your exam paper, especially not academics.

If YOU DO NOT HAVE INTERNET = call the support number +44 1865 612121 (between 8.30 am and 5:00 pm (UK time), Monday to Friday.)

Or if you are need help outside those hours call the 24/7 IT help team on +44 1865 612345.

More info on these can be found under the "Need help?" tab here.

If something truly unexpected and unavoidable happens that forces you to submit late or not at all, fill out an MCE

Tip 1: Watch 20 (exam) questions with Dr Vicky Neale

...and if she hasn't answered all your questions there, get in touch at @email

Tip 2: It might be helpful to recreate exam settings at home to get yourself in the right headspace. If that means getting yourself a carnation and wearing your sub fusc, go for it. No one will tell you off for wearing fun socks.

Tip 3: If your weapon of choice for exams is pen and paper instead of a tablet and stylus, please only use ballpoint pens with blue and black ink.

And only write on one side of the paper so it doesn't bleed through and make it harder to read when scanned.

We have posted more Insperational guidance tailored to the Mathematical Institute examinations.
