I discuss the uncertainties on predictions at the LHC due to our current level of  understanding of Standard Model physics, pointing out that these are often greater than the standard quoted results. I highlight both the experimental measurements and improved theoretical treatments which are necessary to fill in the gaps and maximise the precision of our predictions for both Standard Model and Beyond the Standard Model processes at the LHC.
