A message (and a request) from Chris Daniels

Chris DI am currently the Royal Society Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Oxford's Mathematical Institute.  I also was an undergraduate studying maths here, matriculating back in 1988.

As part of my one day per week role, I am organising a series of 'lunch and learn' sessions in person here in Oxford. The idea is to have a series of speakers who have done interesting things after their maths studies here, with the aim of inspiring and educating the current members of the Department as to what can be done in future.

It doesn't necessarily need to be around how you've used maths in your career - but a link back to the thinking that you developed here would be helpful. We're looking at around three talks per term, so if you have an interesting (and ideally, atypical) story to tell and would like to come to the Mathematical Institute and spend half an hour telling it, that would be great.

We'll follow the talk with an open-ended question and answer session. The audience will be anyone from the Institute - that may be undergraduates, postgraduates or professors. It can be any day of the week, although Fridays tend to work best.  Drop me a note if you would like to join us and share your story: @email

Thanks

Chris Daniels
