The University of Oxford intends to appoint to the Savilian Professorship of Geometry from 1 September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is associated with a Professorial Fellowship at New College.
 
The Savilian Professorship of Geometry is a premier appointment, one of a number of Statutory Professorships currently held at the Mathematical Institute. The Professor will be expected to provide research leadership in their own research area and more widely within the Mathematical Institute and at national and international level, and will also engage in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level within the Mathematical Institute, and play a major role in the supervision, guidance and examination of graduate students.

We are seeking a mathematician of the highest international calibre in Geometry or some other branch of Pure Mathematics. You should have a proven record of original research of the highest quality and of securing research funding, with an excellent publication record and a demonstrable ability to provide research leadership and direction. You should be able to provide effective and innovative teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, to direct postdoctoral researchers and to communicate effectively with a wide range of colleagues within the Department, College and wider University.
